Humans have the ability to recognize over 10,000 faces

Or so I have read, in Psych 101 many years ago.

It's a good idea to read Chinese, the capacity for understanding is there whether it is used or not. At first it seems as though all the words are expressed together in the mind's eye. After a while of sorting through the material one gets to a time when the human capacity to recognize faces gets a major confidence upgrade. That's when it starts to seem funny. This happened to me in 1990 and I'm not sure what the downside is. Well, actually, there is a downside, it's a certain kind of new responsibility that as a European or American, one doesn't necessarily have the training to understand. I guess I could express it by saying that now, when I watch The X-Files, that scary show on Fox TV with Mulder and Scully, that the storylines all remind me of business owners and factory managers trying to stay alive in 3rd world countries. This explanation is maybe unsatisfying and difficult to understand, but people have been trying to describe this Asian process for a long time now, I thought I would give it a try.

Or maybe its like there is a series of vast warehouses out West that are full of stuff that no one has ever taken care of, that have been hit by tornadoes down through the years, and one has gotten a summer job organizing the material in the warehouse.

Go Go has arrived in Boston

It's a good thing.

This fall the University of Maryland beat second ranked Boston College in Division One football.

The Washington Wizards beat the Celtics twice, with a glaring difference in rebounds.

The New York Giants blazed through the Dallas Cowboys and beat the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.

Boston definitely has a tradition of getting into stuff like go go. See you in Glendale, Giants.

"It was a man's game tonight," said [Washington Wizards'] Head Coach Eddie Jordan. "There was not time for soft hearts or people who just couldn't stand it. It was tough at every level, mentally, physically, and emotionally. It was just a physical game and I don't think we have ever played a game like that and won it."

In winning tonight, the Wizards were simply the hungrier team, with the most glaring statistic being the Wizards rebounding advantage over Boston. For the game the Wizards outrebounded the Celtics by 19, while collecting 20 on the offensive glass. The rebounding disparity led to 26 second chance points compared to the Celtics 6. Leading the way for the Wizards was Antawn Jamison, who despite playing against one of the top rebounders in the league, dominated the glass, as Jamison corralled 16 rebounds, while holding Kevin Garnett, to just 7 for the game (from http://www.nba.com/wizards/news/wizcelticsrecap_080112.html )

Feeling antsy about the situation in the Middle East/West Asia?

I know if I'm feeling antsy about the situation here in the US, I turn on the local or national news. http://www.beelinetv.com lists several tv stations broadcasting in Arabic, among them

Jordan Telecom
Dubai EDTV
Rusiya Al Yaum

that communicate a sense of security and orderliness to the viewer. Jordan Telecom not only has the news, it carries concerts and tv drama.

I would say that our USA 6:30 pm news is designed for the elderly demographic that actually watch it, and that if one has any questions about the

mood
sense
feel
atmosphere
gestalt

of Mideast/West Asia, then one should step up and use this free online world television service, beelinetv.com.
