The 17th Congress

It's October. The 17th National Congress started today in China.

Headline:
We can expect some changes in our global timbre.

(Compare this to baseball: You're not a Yankees fan, but if A-Rod moves, it will affect lots of people in baseball - )

(Compare this to football - The Patriots' off-season moves took place months ago, but it sure is making a difference now.... )

If only you knew more about the good things we are doing over at the PRC.......

English Article Wikilink

黄菊 Huang Ju, translated as Ben Hur, died in office.

The leading principles seem to be:

- Hu Jin Tao's Scientific Development Perspective
- The Harmonius Society policy.

The Harmonius Society is pretty good.

The last sentence on Chinese Wikipedia's 和谐社会 (Harmonius Society) article mentions a "river crab":

某些论坛对时事评论多有“河蟹”,“river crab”以及贴螃蟹的图片含蓄的表达不满。
The logic of this nowadays always involves the "river crab".....

I am not sure who or what that "river crab" is referring to.

&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&

I like Hu Jin Tao. I like the committee. Here are some names:

罗干 Luo Gan has a pretty good name, for the computer age.

李长春 "Li" - Li Long Spring - this is a nice name

At any rate:

Seriously nice interesting names

曹刚川 Shudder to Think, national sex and marriage department
张德江 The Global Funeral Budget
贺国强 2011 NFL Realignment
张立昌 Peyton Manning
郭伯雄 Family Guy

More seriously nice interesting names

王乐泉 MTV, jello wrestling
王兆国 national sex and marriage department; Yao Ming department
回良玉 Ice T on LnO
刘淇 Let's be careful - sports
刘云山 Let's be careful - feminist
吴仪 Very nice welcome
吴邦国 Developing country studies
吴官正 I am so sure (comic)
陈良宇 Kimmel/Silverman Dept.
周永康 50s, John Waters
胡锦涛 the president, Hu Jin Tao - "It's really hard work when you don't get paid" Soul Asylum/'Marionette'/Hang Time
俞正声 Politically correct; accoutable
贾庆林 70s Celebrate good times tonight
曾庆红 It's all just one big party to you, isn't it?
曾培炎 No class clown
温家宝 (Don't) Pay attention

I hate to skew these names with such singular comments. But, it doesn't make much difference. The comments are "accuvague". Compare:

Bill Clinton - 60s
Ronald Reagan - what if McDonald's employees developed a giant raygun..?
George Bush - "Bush". Tee hee.
Dick Cheney - This guy wants to put a chain on everybody's dick
Barack Obama - related to "Brak" on Adult Swim
Hilary Clinton - there's nothing funny about weightlifting. Can you clean and jerk a ton? I didn't think so.
George Will - "I'm sorry, your honor, I dropped the "will" in a "gorge" on the way over to the courtroom." Judge - "Case dismissed!"

It's more or less harmless informative positive political commentary, is what it is.
